In 1967 women were not allowed to run in marathons, they were considered too fragile, too slow, and incapable . So Katherine V. Switzer did the unexpected, she illegally snuck into the Boston Marathon to prove everyone wrong.

Mid race, her identity was discovered and officials tried to physically remove her from the race. This moment was captured by the media, and sent shockwaves around the world. Despite the turmoil, she got back up and finished the race — paving the way for the generations of female runners that followed her.

To honor her legacy, we recreated this iconic race photo as a film and launched the Michelob ULTRA RunFund dedicated to paying the entry fees for more first-time female runners for years to come.
